Ohio Northern University to host third annual Ohio Pharmacy Residency Conference
The Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy will host the third annual Ohio Pharmacy Residency Conference (OPRC) on Friday, May 15.
The conference provides an opportunity for residents to present their projects to peers, preceptors and other colleagues. In addition to the educational opportunities, this conference provides a chance for members to network with residents and preceptors from a variety of programs within Ohio, Michigan and Indiana.
A total of 88 presentations are scheduled for this year’s conference. Residents will have 22 minutes to present their projects followed by a brief question-and answer-period. Each presenter will be provided written feedback from evaluators who have attended their session. This feedback will be given to the preceptors at the completion of the conference.
Pharmacy residents are required under American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) residency standards to complete and present the results of a research project. OPRC was formed in 2013 to accommodate Ohio-based residencies that wish to take advantage of a one-day, smaller, centrally located conference. Since the conference was formed it has accommodated over 200 residents from the region.
ASHP is the national professional organization whose more than 40,000 members include pharmacists, student pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who serve as patient care providers on health care teams in acute and ambulatory settings. Ohio Northern Alumni, Toby Clark BSPH ’67, currently serves as a Lead Surveyor for ASHP. Mr. Clark will be the keynote speaker at this year’s conference and will share ASHP news and updates with attendees.
The 2016 Ohio Pharmacy Residency Conference will take place on May 13. Interested parties may contact Dr. Michael Rush at 419-772-3933 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
