Music Department Presents Marching Band-O-Rama 2009

The Ohio Northern University music department presents the Marching Band-O-Rama 2009 in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts on Sunday, Nov. 8, at 4 p.m.

Known as the "Star of Northwest Ohio, " the marching band will perform music from their 2009 programs, "That 60s, 70s, and 80s Show" and "Sketches of Spain." "That 60s, 70s, and 80s Show" includes music from the movies "Rocky" and "Back to the Future." The show also includes music from the late Michael Jackson.

The band will heat up the theatre with music from the "Sketches of Spain Show," including music to be performed on the band's upcoming tour to Spain later this year. The group will perform "Malaguena" by Earnesto Lecuna, "Spain" by Chick Corea and "Children of Sanchez" by Chuck Mangione. Soloists include trumpeters Matt Keasal, a senior music education major from Fostoria, Ohio, and Tyler Graves, a junior music performance major from Wickliffe, Ohio.

Field conductors are Kaitlyn DeFrench, a senior music education major from Northfield, Ohio, Kevin Earnest, a senior civil engineering major from Rensselaer, Ind., and Tyler Graves. The drumline captain is Josh Stoffel, a senior mathematics major from Reynoldsburg, Ohio, and the guard captains are Emily Bennett, a fourth-year pharmacy student from Kettering, Ohio, and Michelle Mangan, a fifth-year pharmacy student from Garrettsville, Ohio. The auxiliaries coordinator is Kristen Steele, and the band is under the direction of Dr. Charles Bates, ONU professor of music and director of bands.

Tickets are $15 for general admission, $12 for seniors and non-ONU students, and $9 for children.
