Fifteen Years of Dance at ONU

Oct 1, 2008
To celebrate the 15th anniversary of the dance program at Ohio Northern University, dance alumni will collaborate with current members for a performance that pays homage to the program and revisits favorite performances. The Freed Center for the Performing Arts will host two showings: Saturday, Oct. 11, at 8 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 12, at 2 p.m. There will be a pre-show discussion on Oct. 11 at 7:15 p.m.

Returning alumni will share their expertise as teachers, dancers and choreographers. Choreographers include Geraldo "Wally" Calderon, BFA '00, Matthew Simpkins, BFA '03, Janet Schroeder, BFA '00, and Marisa Carbrera Knight, BA '03. Allison Baird, BSBA '04, and Schroeder will join students in the performances, while Brenda Hoyt-Brackman, lecturer in communication arts, and Laurie Bell, associate professor of dance, will add their choreographic talents to the concert.

The concert will reflect multiple styles of dance - ballroom, modern, tap, jazz and musical theatre - all on one stage.

Tickets are $15 for general admission. The Freed Center box office is open Monday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Phone orders are accepted with MasterCard, VISA or Discover by calling 419-772-1900. Tickets are also available online at www.onu.edu/freed
