Cole to Speak on Transcending Turbulence in the Auto Industry

Dr. David E. Cole will speak on "Transcending Turbulence in the Auto Industry: A New Beginning?" at the Carroll V. Lovett Distinguished Lecture Series in the Ohio Northern University Freed Center for the Performing Arts at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 1.

Cole is the chairman of the Center for Automotive Research (CAR) in Ann Arbor, Mich. He is a former director of the Office for the Study of Automotive Transportation (OSAT) at the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute, and he has worked extensively on internal combustion engines, vehicle design and overall automotive industry trends.

Cole's recent research has focused on strategic issues related to the restructuring of the North American industry and trends in globalization, technology, market factors and human resource requirements. He is a former member of the Energy Engineering Board of the National Research Council and the U.S.-Canada Free Trade Pact Select Panel.

The event is free and open to the public.

The Carroll V. Lovett Distinguished Lecture Series was established by a bequest of Mr. Lovett's mother, Florence V. Lovett, in honor of her son. Mr. Lovett, who graduated from ONU in 1961, was instrumental in implementing the series. Mr. Lovett is a retired manager from the Xerox Foundation.
