Art Gallery Season continues with Alphabet and Typography Exhibition

Dec 3, 2007
Ohio Northern University continues its 2007-08 art exhibition and gallery season at the Elzay and Stambaugh Studio Theatre galleries with "Alphabet: An Exhibition of Hand-Drawn Lettering and Experimental Typography."

The exhibition showcases 60 illustrations of the alphabet and features typography created by 48 artists and designers from all over the world. The goal of the exhibit is to represent the letters we see every day as more than just communication symbols. "Alphabet" debuted in Baltimore and will be available at ONU from Dec. 3-21.

Serving as a cultural resource for the Ohio Northern community and surrounding region, the 2007-08 gallery season has been designed to host national and international touring exhibitions and programs, as well as original exhibits distinctly suited to an academic environment. This exhibition season showcases invited artists and designers who encourage dialogue about the visual arts, including studio processes, history, criticism, curation and cultural contexts.

Admission to the Elzay and Stambaugh galleries is free and open to the public daily from noon to 5 p.m. The Stambaugh Studio Theatre Gallery also is open prior to events held at Ohio Northern's Freed Center for the Performing Arts.
