Air Force Cyber Defense Expert to Speak

Dr. Kamal T. Jabbour will discuss "Keeping Our Nation Safe from Cyber Attacks" in the Ohio Northern University T.J. Smull College of Engineering Biggs Building Room 236 on Jan. 13 at noon.

Jabbour, a senior scientist for the Information Assurance, Information Directorate at the Air Force Research Laboratory in Rome, N.Y., will give a glimpse into what is happening in the cyber realm to protect the country against computer attacks. More than two million attacks occur every day against the Pentagon alone.

Jabbour serves as the principal scientific authority and independent researcher in the field of information assurance, including defensive and offensive information warfare technology. Jabbour conceives plans and advocates major research and development activities, monitors and guides the quality of scientific and technical resources, and provides expert technical consultation to the Air Force Department of Defense, universities and industries.

The ONU Electrical and Computer Engineering and Computer Science Department will host the event, which is free and open to the public.
