Gift Book Policy - Non-ONU Personnel

Heterick Memorial Library accepts donations of worthwhile, useful books and other materials. Such gifts become the sole property of the library to use or dispose as the case may be. All such gifts are acknowledged, but donors who wish tax deductions for their gifts to the Heterick Memorial Library must obtain their own evaluation and supply it along with their gifts.

To make a donation, please follow these procedures.

1. Prior to delivering gift materials, copies of the library's gift form, must be completed. Copies may be obtained from the Acquisitions Department at (419) 772-2183.

2. Keep one copy of this form for your records and send one to: Acquisitions Dept. ATTN: Gifts Heterick memorial Library Ohio Northern University Ada, OH 45810

3. You will be notified of which items items will be accepted.

4. Call Paul Logsdon, (419) 772-2182, to make arrangements for the transfer of accepted materials.

If the value of your gift will exceed $5,000 and you wish to claim an IRS deduction, you MUST file a copy of form 8283, Noncash Charitable Contributions, with the IRS. Copies of this form can be obtained via IRS web site or from the library director.

Since you can claim a deduction only for items actually added to the library's collection, please be sure to follow steps 1-3 above. You will be notified of which items have been retained by the library.
