The library provides a variety of licensed databases. The license permits the databases to be used only by current Faculty, Staff and Students of the Ohio Northern University. The license permits unrestricted access to library patrons who access databases using computers connected to the Ohio Northern University's network (ONUNET). This includes computers in academic buildings, residence halls, computer labs etc.

Library patrons using computers connected to an Internet Service Provider (ISP) such as Wcoil (off-campus patrons) may access licensed databases. However, such patrons are required to authenticate themselves as valid patrons of the library, before accessing the databases. When an off-campus patron selects an off-campus link to a database, the system prompts for the user name and barcode. If the user name and password supplied by the patron are authenticated, the databases are available for use.

When prompted for user name type your first name and the last name. The barcode will depend on the type of University ID that you have.

For persons with the new University ID,
the barcode number = the number that is printed on the front of the ID

For persons with the old University ID,
the barcode number =the SSN followed by two digits. 01 for the first ID, 02 for the second ID
03 for third ID, etc.
