Office of Institutional Research
Mission and Purpose
The Office of Institutional Research collects and analyzes data and disseminates information designed to:
- assist the Ohio Northern University community in making informed decisions; and
- facilitate improved institutional performance and accountability.
Statement of Ethics
In accordance with the ethical practice of institutional research, office staff members agree to:
- operate with integrity by conducting research that is objective and uses accepted technical
standards; - employ secure data collection and storage procedures that ensure confidentiality and protect the
privacy of research subjects; and - disseminate accurate information in a responsible manner.
Goals and Strategies
1) To collect and analyze data about the university and the context in which it operates.
- Respond to internal and external requests for data.
- Collect and analyze internal and external sets of data.
- Participate in IPEDS data collection in compliance with federal regulations.
- Participate in national studies.
- Conduct local studies.
2) To collect and analyze data about the learning and performance outcomes of university students.
- Coordinate university assessment activities.
- Coordinate assessment of the university outcomes for general education and learning.
- Participate in national studies.
- Conduct local studies.
- Enter and analyze data collected for program assessment.
- Actively participate on university committees.
3) To support the evaluation of university programs, services, and personnel.
- Participate in national studies.
- Conduct local studies.
- Actively participate on university committees.
4) To disseminate information that generates informed decisions and improved institutional performance and accountability.
- Share information with campus and external community.
- Collect feedback on office effectiveness.
