French Horn Day
Welcome!
The Ohio Northern University Department of Music invites you to French Horn Day with Thomas Bacon on Saturday, February 16, 2013. French horn players of all ages are invited to learn new skills and techniques from various horn masters. Sessions at French Horn Day include horn performance, maintenance, practice techniques and career development, among others. All participants are invited to join the closing horn choir.
Clinicians and adjudicators will include Thomas Bacon, Thomas Hunt, Lowell Greer, Sandra Clark, Scott Fisher, Kevin Powers, Karen Schneider, Tiffany Damicone, Stacie Mickens and Wes Hatch. Click here to view clinician biographies and photos.
Vendors will include Rettig Music, Hatch Horns, Stanton Music and Ion Balu.
Who is invited?
We invite all french horn players, young and old, to improve their skills at French Horn Day through our many sessions, horn choir and solo competition.
Additionally, two sessions will be geared toward high school band directors. The registration fee will be waived for all band directors and instructors who bring students to French Horn Day.
Registration
Registration for French Horn Day is $22.50 and includes all sessions and lunch. Registration for French Horn Day and the solo competition is on the same form.

Solo Competition and Mock Auditions
Participants in the Mock Auditions will perform excerpts chosen from those listed here or here. Open to advanced high school and all college/university students.
Solo Competition participants will be chosen based upon recommendations from their director/teacher. Open to all high school and college/university students. Solo should be a class A or B solo from the OMEA list. It may be necessary to send a copy of the accompaniement in advance if it is not in the ONU library.
