Forensic scientists from across the globe gathered together this past week at the American Academy of Forensic Sciences 67th Annual Scientific Meeting held in Orlando, Fla., from February 16th to February 21st.
The meeting consisted of a variety of workshops relating to forensic scientists. Most of the attendees were professionals or graduate students.
Seven undergraduate students from Ohio Northern along with their advisor, Dennis DeLuca, had the opportunity to attend this meeting. DeLuca is the associate professor of biological sciences at ONU.
“We are some of the only few undergrad students attending. So it is special that we are able to receive the opportunity to attend and learn from some the best scientists across the country,” said Bryan Petoskey, a sophomore forensic biology major from Toledo, Ohio.
The meeting did not only provide workshops for the students but provided networking opportunities for them as well. Students were able to attend a college and career fair along with different social gatherings meeting professionals from across the country.
