The mission of the Electrical & Computer Engineering and Computer Science (ECCS) Department is to develop graduates who are creative, productive, ethical, and contributing members of society. To carry out this mission, we have professional, approachable faculty who are dedicated to their students: giving extra time to students in need, inviting students to their homes for social events, and maintaining an “open door” policy that allows students to stop by the office at any time to ask questions.

Each program in the department shares the same goals of producing high quality graduates through a broad-based curriculum that stresses fundamentals and the development of a professional work ethic. Many of our courses offer accessible, hands-on, practical laboratory experiences using relevant equipment and disciplined practices. Small class sizes allow for a positive teaching environment where students can easily interact one-on-one with their professors, both inside and outside the classroom. All programs share a year-long senior design sequence that allows students to work on interdisciplinary comprehensive projects, learn about team management issues and deal with the technical aspects of design while being prepared for the workplace.

Our various professional organizations allow both students and faculty to engage in career-long learning while also having fun.
