Dr. Terry Maris
- Founding Executive Director - is a Professor of Management and the
former Dean of the College of Business Administration at Ohio Northern
University. Prior to entering academe, Dr. Maris served as a U. S. Army
officer and subsequently as a management consultant. He has traveled to
nearly 70 countries as a speaker, lecturer, researcher and advisor. Under
license from the U.S. Treasury department, he has visited Cuba frequently
to meet with Cuban faculty, administrators and students; Cuban and U.
S. government officials; enterprise managers; and foreign government and
commercial executives.
Nicole Muryn
- Editor of Proceedings/JCBS Associate Editor - is a senior pursuing
a dual degree in International Business and Economics and French. She
has a strong passion for researching international trade and relations.
She first became involved in journal editing during her freshman year
with the Global Business Issues Journal published by the International
Business Club at Ohio Northern University.
Jenna Doellman - Secretary and Archivist - is a junior at ONU majoring
in International Business & Economics. She is a graduate of Olentangy
High School in Lewis Center, Ohio.
Kaitlyn Macdonald - Web Content Provider - is a fourth year Doctor
of Pharmacy student. Besides the sciences, she has long been interested
in the Spanish language and web design. She has designed websites for
several years and, in addition to the Cuba Center site, she maintains
sites for several elite American athletes.
Sa'rah Plesner - Assistant Editor, Proceedings - is a junior
majoring in International Studies and French with a minor in professional
writing. She graduated from Bishop Chatard High School in Indianapolis,
Indiana. She is part of the ONU Model United Nations Team which allows
her to understand the political, cultural, economic, and social backgrounds
of the nations in our world.
Daniel C. Tomaro
- is a senior from Eastlake, OH pursuing a degree in business with a
second concentration in Spanish. After learning about various aspects
of Cuban culture from several Spanish classes, he decided to embark
on the first 10 week study abroad program offered by the Cuba Center.
Outside of academics, Dan is a brother of Phi Mu Delta fraternity, a
supervisor for the ONU Give Phonathon, and has spent his summers as
an intern for MBNA/Bank of America in the Customer Satisfaction and
Consumer Finance departments.
Stephen Jacquemin
- Environmental Biologist - is a senior majoring in both Environmental
Science and Biology. Stephen found his place in the first Cuban study
program focusing on the environmental aspects of the country. During
his time in Cuba he became fully immersed in the biological sciences
while researching aquatic life alongside the faculty of the Center for
Marine Investigations. Outside of academics Stephen is a brother of
Sigma Pi Fraternity, a member of Tri-Beta, Ohio Northern Environmentalists,
and the Presidents Club.
Jared Ross Hardesty-Editor-in-Chief, Collegiate Essay Contest. Jared
is a senior history major from Lima, Ohio. He was one of the nine students
to study in Cuba in the Fall of 2006. While in Cuba, Jared had the opportunity
of working with the historian of the University of Havana, Dr. Delio
Carreras. Upon return, Jared stayed active in the Cuba Center, assuming
his present role in September 2007. After graduating in May, Jared plans
on attending graduate school and obtaining a Ph.D. in history.
