Robert
W. Ogle is Administrative Director of the Center for Historic Architecture
and Preservation, (CHAP) at the University of Kentucky. He also teaches
in the graduate program in historic preservation and co-lectures in
the interdisciplinary graduate research seminar on Cuba. Under license
of the U.S. Treasury Department, Mr. Ogle has traveled to Cuba to conduct
research in the areas of modern architecture and the business and economics
of Cuba. His most recent trip was completed in January of 2006 where
he focused his research on the subject of heritage tourism.
Mr. Ogle hails originally
from Bucks County Pennsylvania which served as home base for his entrepreneurial
interests for more than 20 years. His specialty is business strategies
for emerging markets. Beginning in 2000, Mr. Ogle turned his business
acumen toward helping the design disciplines including architecture,
interior design, engineering and historic preservation. Most recently,
he founded the not-for-profit company Design Lab, Inc. a design-build
firm, that engages students and faculty of the design disciplines with
real world projects. Mr. Ogle is a frequent speaker on the business
and economics of historic preservation and consults on historic preservation
pedagogy and curriculum development. He earned a Master of Historic
Preservation degree from the University of Kentucky, and a Bachelor
of Science degree in finance and economics from Philadelphia University.
