| The
Communication Skills Center continues to offer students the opportunity
to show Microsoft PowerPoint presentations, in both PC and MAC format,
during their video taping session.
To
ensure the presentation can be shown, and due to the limitations of our
computer system, students must save their presentation, in completed form,
in one of two ways:
1. on a 100 megabyte (MB) Iomega Zip disk,
or
2. in one of the student folders on the university-wide network.
Note:
If the presentation is saved on the university network, the student must
bring the following information to his or her video taping appointment:
1.
The four-digit designation of the server on which the file is stored (i.e.
Hs03, Cs01, Db01). The letter of the drive alone is not sufficient.
2.
The student’s stu number or the name of the folder in which the file is
saved (i.e. stu0000).
3.
A working password which will enable the student to log on to the university
network. Note: The password cannot exceed eight characters in length.
Specific
Instructions for Using PowerPoint on the Macintosh Computer in the CSC
The
CSC has the ability to show only one PowerPoint presentation at any one
time, so students who are thinking of incorporating PowerPoint into their
video taped presentation are encouraged to schedule their appointments
well in advance.
If
you have any questions regarding the compatibility of your presentation
and the CSC computer system, or are planning to use other technologies
during your presentation please call the CSC at 772-2186 Monday through
Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Questions
regarding access to and/or the operation of the university servers should
be directed to the university help line (772-1111).
