Community service—Service, engagement and outreach are an integral part of the ONU experience. Statistics show that about two-thirds of ONU’s students (2,395 of 3,570), were engaged in community service during 2011. Of that number, 513 were engaged in academic service learning and 1,882 were engaged in other forms of community service. In total, ONU’s students donated 49,722 hours of service. Typically, while classes are on spring break every year, several groups of ONU students take part in Habitat for Humanity projects in multiple locations and also work on local projects.
