Website Instructions: Office Contact and Hours Block


The "office contact and hours" block is a block that can appear on your webpages that is made up of a content type called "Office Information." In the "Office Information" node, you can set your normal office hours and include the contact information for your area. This content type has a scheduling component that allows you to build a secondary page for holidays and have that node automatically publish and un-publish on certain days and times. To set up your normal hours, follow these steps:

  • Log in to the website at https://www.onu.edu/user/login.
  • From the "Content" menu in the black administration bar, select "add content" and then select "Office Information."
  • Enter a "Title" (Your Department Name: Normal Hours).
  • Enter your normal hours by selecting the various menu items for each day of the week.
  • Enter your "Department Name," "Contact Name," "Building and Office #," "Phone," "Street Address," and "City, State, Zipcode."
  • Select your "Office or Building" from the final dropdown menu. If your area does not appear on the list, please contact Ken Colwell to get your area added to the list.
  • Click the "Save" button and you are done.

The new block will not appear on your page until you contact Ken Colwell to let him know that you are ready to have this information added to your area of the website.

To set up an alternative or holiday page, please follow the steps below:

  • Log in to the website at https://www.onu.edu/user/login.
  • From the "Content" menu in the black administration bar, select "add content" and then select "Office Information."
  • Enter a "Title" (Your Department Name: Holiday Hours).
  • Enter your holiday hours by selecting the various menu items for each day of the week.
  • Enter your "Department Name," "Contact Name," "Building and Office #," "Phone," "Street Address," and "City, State, Zipcode."
  • Select your "Office or Building" from the final dropdown menu.
  • Click the "Scheduling options" tab near the bottom of the page.
  • Enter the "Date" and "Time" that you would like your holiday hours page to be published. Each node covers a week of time, so setting it to be published during the weekend is logical.
  • Enter the "Date" and "Time" that you would like your holiday hours page to be un-published.
  • Click the "Save" button, and you are done.
  • Your alternative page will be published at the time that you entered and will remain in place until the time that you entered for the "Unpublish" "Date" and "Time."
  • When the time has expired on your holiday page, your block will automatically switch back to your normal hours.
