Do You Have What It Takes?
Many people have this picture in their head of what it takes to start a business. This picture usually consists of no pay or benefits, potential debt, total responsibility, lots of hours, family strain, stress and of course the possibility of failure. So what is an entrepreneur? One who creates a new business in the face of risk and uncertainty for the purpose of achieving profit and growth by identifying opportunities and assembling the necessary resources to capitalize on them. You might ask, “Why should I start a small business?” The answer is to take control over your life, work the hours you choose, take on a challenge, take advantage of unused skills, build for your family, live where you want to live, and earn lots of money. The next question you are thinking about is, “Do I have what it takes to be an entrepreneur?” Some key characteristics of an entrepreneur include: PASSION, initiative, ability to set goals, ability to solve problems, ability to learn from mistakes, willingness to ask for help, ability to work with others and a basic understanding of business. If you have these characteristics and a great business idea you have the capability to be an entrepreneur!
