Amanda Black is originally from Lima, Ohio. She started her dance training at the age of five with Lyn’s Academy of Dance. Growing up, Amanda also trained as a gymnast where she competed for eight years at the Lima Gymnastics Academy. In 2011, Amanda graduated Magna Cum Laude from Kent State University with a B.F.A. degree in Dance Performance and Choreography. She was involved in the pre-professional dance company the Kent Dance Ensemble for two years and was the President of the Kent Dance Association her junior and senior year. After graduation, she had the opportunity to work with the Dayton Contemporary Dance Second Company, Kim Robards Dance and  Seven Dance Company.  Amanda is currently teaching at The Arts Center School of Music and Dance in Lima, OH. She enjoys teaching modern, ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop and tumbling classes. Amanda has been awarded for her choreography at The Arts Center at regional dance competitions. While being at Ohio Northern University Amanda has helped coordinate the Day of Dance sessions for local studios, attended the ACDFA festival in Athens, OH and performed in the Choreographers Showcase.
