The Department of Philosophy & Religion Mission Statement

The mission of the Department of Philosophy and Religion is to help Ohio Northern students think critically, communicate effectively and appreciate “a lifetime of personal growth inspired by the higher values of truth, beauty and goodness.”  This mission occurs within a curriculum that requires the acquisition of diverse knowledge and the ability to critique the Judeo Christian tradition and various other religious and philosophical traditions.  The minors in religion and philosophy provide all students with opportunities to explore religious and philosophical traditions in more depth and the majors in philosophy, religion, youth ministry and philosophy, politics and economics (PPE) also offer rigorous preparation for students who wish to pursue graduate and professional studies and meaningful careers.
