Areas of Study

Our department offers four programs of study that lead to a Bachelor of Arts. In addition, many students choose to minor in either philosophy or religion because these disciplines complement almost every major, from psychology to English, political science to business.

Philosophy (major or minor)

Philosophy is the anchor in the traditional liberal arts education. Our program addresses universal human concerns and diverse world views through rigorous academic study.

Philosophy, Politics and Economics (major)

We are one of only a handful of universities in Ohio to offer a PPE degree. Our program weaves together three interconnected and foundational disciplines, preparing students for law school; a career in the public, nonprofit or private industry sector; or graduate school.

Religion (major or minor)

Religion explores the major religious traditions in the world. Our program approaches the study of religion through a non-denominational lens.

Youth ministry (major)

Our youth ministry major was designed in consultation and in cooperation with the West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church and approved by the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry to meet the academic requirements for undergraduate professional certification.

Our 3+3 program is the only one of its kind in Ohio, and one of only a few in the country. The typical path to a master’s degree in divinity requires seven years of study. Through the 3+3 program, you can save time and money by completing the degree in six years.
