Biography: 
Michele Tosser Smith joined the Toledo Symphony in 2003 as Second Oboist. Prior to joining the Toledo Symphony, Ms. Smith was Principle Oboist of the South Dakota Symphony and Dakota Wind Quintet.

During the 2011-2012 season, Ms. Smith was Acting Second Oboist with The Cleveland Orchestra. During her time with the orchestra, she went on a European tour which included performances in Spain, France, Luxembourg, Germany and Austria. Additionally, she joined the orchestra for their Miami Residencies and a US West Coast tour.

In 2012, Ms. Smith joined the faculty at Ohio Northern University where she is the adjunct oboe professor. From 2006-2012, she was an adjunct faculty member at Heidelberg University where she taught oboe and played in the faculty woodwind quintet. In 2003 Ms. Smith was an adjunct faculty member at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Ms. Smith holds a Masters of Music (2006) from the Cleveland Institute of Music where she was a student of John Mack. She received a Bachelor of Music (2001) from Mannes College of Music where she was a recipient of the prestigious Performance Award. During her undergraduate studies she was a student of Richard Dallessio and Elaine Douvas. Ms. Smith has attended The National Repertory Orchestra, National Orchestral Institute, Kent-Blossom Music Festival and Domaine-Forget.

Ms. Smith resides in Holland, Ohio with her husband and their golden retriever, Scotch.
