Dr. Rebecca Casey
Dr. Rebecca Casey has served at ONU for 20 years, currently as Department Chair and head of keyboard. She teaches piano literature, piano pedagogy, aural skills and piano individual, assists with administration, and coordinates the ONU Piano Academy, a preparatory program for piano majors to teach youngsters piano lessons.
She received her B.M. from ONU and her M.M. and D.M.A. in Piano Performance with a GPA of 4.00 from the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music, receiving full scholarships for her entire graduate school career. She studied with Eugene and Elizabeth Pridonoff and Frank Weinstock while at CCM. She taught for four years in the Findlay City Schools where she received "Educator of the Month" for excellent teaching, and the "Award of Distinction" from the Findlay Jaycees for outstanding work with children. She has soloed with the Toledo and ONU Symphonies and has performed on WGTE. Rebecca has adjudicated National Young Keyboard Artists Competitions, the Capital Conservatory of Music Honors Scholarship Competition, the MTNA State Junior/Senior/Young Artist Piano Competition, OMTA Duettists competitions, dozens of Ribbon Festivals, and the Buckeye Competition. She was recently elected "State Collegiate Certified Teacher of the Year". She has also performed at OMTA State Convention.
Rebecca's students have played in Master Classes with Alexander Ghindin, Elizabeth and Eugene Pridonoff, Alpin Hong and Andrea Anderson, among others. Her favorite age to teach is college, where the students are old enough to “really accomplish something” but young enough to “still act goofy and have fun”!
