Honor Societies

Delta Phi Alpha - German Honorary
Chapter: Lambda Theta
Advisor: Dr. James Walter, Professor of German
The National German Honor Society, Delta Phi Alpha, seeks to recognize excellence in the study of German and to provide an incentive for higher scholarship. The Society aims to promote the study of the German language, literature and civilization and endeavors to emphasize those aspects of German life and culture which are of universal value and which contribute to man's eternal search for peace and truth.

Phi Beta Delta - International Studies Honorary
Chapter: Gamma Upsilon
Advisor: Dr. Michael B. Loughlin, Professor of History
Phi Beta Delta is the first honor society dedicated to recognizing scholarly achievement in international education. Phi Beta Delta awards scholarships to students, faculty, and staff; publishes the journal International Research and Review; and hosts an annual conference on international education and exchanges.

Pi Delta Phi - French Honorary
Chapter: Epsilon Chi
Advisor: Dr. Thomas Finn, Professor of French and Spanish
The purpose of the Society is to recognize outstanding scholarship in the French language and its literatures, to increase the knowledge and appreciation of all students for the cultural contributions of the French-speaking world, and to stimulate and to encourage French and francophone cultural activities. Sigma Delta Pi - Spanish Honorary
Chapter: Eta Eta
Advisor: Dr. Kanishka Sen, Associate Professor of Spanish
Sigma Delta Pi's colors are red and gold, its flower is the red carnation, and its motto is the Greek phrase "Spanías Didagéi Proágomen" meaning "Let's go forth/continue forth under the teaching/guidance of the Spanish language." Check out our facebook page.

Le cercle français offers students the opportunity to speak French and participate in Francophone cultural events and other related activities. It is open to all students.

Spanish Club
Sponsor: Dr. Kanishka Sen, Associate Professor of Spanish
Through engaging events, the Spanish Club unites Spanish-speaking students of all levels in the effort to learn more about the Spanish language and culture. Open to all students that have interest in Spain or/and Latin America.
