Geography

GEOGRAPHERS HAVE A UNIQUE WAY OF LOOKING AT THE WORLD – WE WORRY ABOUT THE WHY OF THE WHERE. GEOGRAPHERS STUDY THE EARTH AND ITS LAND, FEATURES AND INHABITANTS, WHICH MAY SEEM BROAD, BUT BECAUSE GEOGRAPHY IS AN INTERDISCIPLINARY FIELD, IT OFFERS DIVERSE OPPORTUNITIES. GEOGRAPHY IS IN DEMAND AND OFFERS A VARIETY OF JOBS ALLOWING YOU TO DO SOMETHING YOU LOVE. GEOGRAPHERS REALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN OUR WORLD.

EXPLORE OUR WORLD

The geography minor at ONU offers a unique opportunity to customize courses to your interests, making it a good complement to any major. Students interested in learning about different cultures and regions around the world can concentrate on area studies. Those who want to study the world like geographers do can dive deeper into several fields of the discipline. Or, if you love maps and want to learn about exciting new technology that can enhance your résumé, you can take courses that utilize geographic information systems (GIS).

OH, THE PLACES YOU’LL GO

Geography is unique in bridging the social sciences and the natural sciences. Some geographers study the spatial aspects of human existence, and others are concerned with climate patterns, landforms, water, soil and vegetation. Geographers use many tools and technologies to help better understand our complex world, including remote sensing, geographic information systems (GIS) and global positioning systems (GPS).
