Jean Larcher

Jean LarcherJean Larcher was born in France in 1947 and his father was a typographer. He had the privilege of studying typography from 1962 to 1965 at the Paris Chamber of Commerce. At the same time he was studying drawing and calligraphy.

Since 1973 Jean Larcher has specialised in lettering and original pieces of calligraphy: in recent years, as a freelancer, he has designed some 600 logotypes by hand. Jean teaches typography and calligraphy throughout France, and provides specialized workshops since 1985, first in England and then in Belgium, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Holland, Finland, Norway, Australia, New Zealand, Spain and the US.

His activities of professional freelance calligrapher led him to work for advertising, the press, publishing, industry, television and so on. Jean has published 13 books to date, established twenty-six fonts and participated in more than 250 exhibitions of calligraphy around the world.
