The Ohio Northern University Office of Alumni Relations has announced the recipients of ONU’s 2010 Distinguished Alumni Awards. These individuals will be honored at a banquet during ONU’s Alumni Weekend on June 5.This year’s honorees are Thomas J. Ohio Northern University’s Office of Alumni Relations invites the public to “One Fine Art Weekend” on Friday, April 30, and Saturday, May 1. Registration begins at 4 p.m. on April 30 at The Inn at Ohio Northern University. Throughout the weekend, participants will have the opportunity to view ONU student artwork and photography. Bob Peterson, award-winning director and screenwriter for Pixar Animation Studios, will be the featured speaker for the Ohio Northern University Spotts Lecture in the Sports Center Gym at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 15. The event is free and open to the public. As part of ONU's Polar Bear Nation year-long series of events and activities, alumni are invited to participate in the upcoming Campus Book Project. The ONU community is invited to read the book "Field Notes from a Catastrophe: Man, Nature and Climate Change," by New Yorker journalist and writer, Elizabeth Kolbert who tackles the controversial subject of global warming. Jason Duff, BSBA '05, has been named the recipient of the 2008 William L. Robinson Young Alumni Award. The award is given each year to an individual who is committed to Ohio Northern University, his/her profession and the community. The award is named in honor of Bill Robinson, BSEd '61, Hon. D. A huge fireworks display will highlight Ohio Northern University's homecoming weekend festivities on Oct. 17-19. The fireworks extravaganza will cap a full day of activities on Saturday at 7:45 p.m. A variety of events are scheduled throughout the weekend, which has been billed as "Come Home to Polar Bear Nation." The ONU Freed Center for the Performing Arts will feature Micky Dolenz of 1960s rock group The Monkees. Dolenz will perform Saturday, Oct. 18, at 8 p.m. in Biggs Theatre as part of the ONU Homecoming festivities. Dolenz has been a figure on the entertainment scene for more than 40 years. The Ohio Northern University Alumni Jazz band will reunite for an afternoon of music and memories on Sunday, Oct. 19, at 2 p.m. in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts.
