Intelligent Vehicles: Efforts to Make Cars Safer by Making Them Smarter

Tremendous improvements have been made in vehicle safety over the past 30 years. However, only recently has the focus shifted from accident mitigation to accident prevention. This talk will focus on “intelligent” approaches to improving roadway safety, including an overview of the current state-of-the-art in commercial vehicles, a review of recent research, and details on the ArosDyn project. Dr. John-David
Yoder was part of the ArosDyn project during the 2009-10 academic year when he served as an invited professor in Grenoble, France, at INRIA Rhône-Alpes. INRIA is a French national research institution focusing on computer science, control theory and applied mathematics.
