Welcome back to Ohio Northern University! Alumni Weekend 2011 promises to be full of fellowship and fun. The weekend is designed to provide you with opportunities to meet former classmates, make new friends, and enjoy our beautiful campus and facilities. We hope you will attend the seminars, banquets and other programs that are planned. We are especially thankful to the Class of 1961 Planning Committee, which has helped so much with this year’s activities.

The 11th Annual Robby Golf Classic (Colonial Golfers Club – five miles west of Ada)
The event is a fundraiser for The Robby Fund, named in honor of Bill Robinson, BSEd ’61, Hon. D. ’05, H of F ’05. Your participation fee of $125 includes range balls, 18 holes of golf with a cart, and a post-golf dinner. Special Information
Alumni Weekend Headquarters
McIntosh Center will again be this year’s Alumni Weekend Headquarters. Upon arrival, you should report to the registration area to receive your weekend materials, including room assignments, tickets for events and any other information you should need.
A festive atmosphere, including helpful student ambassadors, ONU yearbooks from 1961 and before, and music from your years on campus, will greet you at Alumni Weekend Headquarters. In addition, information will be available from the Office of Admissions. Make Alumni Weekend Headquarters your first stop when you come to campus.
Horse and Carriage Campus Tours
For the fifth straight year, tours of campus in a horse and carriage will be available from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, June 4. There will be many other opportunities for tours of campus throughout the weekend, so please take advantage of them to see the new buildings and renovated structures on campus.
Lodging
We are pleased to now offer rooms at the beautiful Inn at Ohio Northern University. You may reserve a room at this full-service luxury hotel, at a rate of $90 plus tax, by calling toll-free 866-713-4513. This block of rooms will be held through May 15, 2011. Please refer to Alumni Weekend when calling to make your reservation.
Also located on Northern’s campus are rooms in Ohio Northern’s Campus Village Apartments. These will be available to attendees of this year’s Alumni Weekend on Friday and Saturday nights at a cost of $35 per night. You may reserve a campus village apartment in the registration form.
Barnes & Noble Bookstore
The University Bookstore, located in McIntosh Center, will be open throughout the weekend so you may purchase ONU memorabilia. The bookstore’s hours of operation are below and will be posted at the registration area as well.
Friday – 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
Saturday – 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Please visit the bookstore during these hours to take advantage of being on campus once again and to show your ONU pride when you return home.
Northern On Main
ONU’s own coffee shop will be open for business during Alumni Weekend, so be sure to stop by for a freshly brewed Starbucks coffee or grilled sandwich of your choice. Its hours of operation are below and will be posted at the registration area as well.

Northern on Main is located on Main Street adjacent to the front of campus, about a two-block walk from McIntosh Center.
Elzay Gallery of Art
Visit the Elzay Gallery of Art on ONU’s campus. The gallery will be open from noon-5 p.m. both Friday and Saturday of Alumni Weekend for your enjoyment. This year’s exhibit features the first graduate of ONU’s Art department, Winona Garmhausen, BSEd ’61. There will be a special reception on Friday from 5:15-6 p.m.
Tours of Campus
Tours of campus, led by ONU student ambassadors, will be available throughout the weekend. They will be happy to give you a guided tour so you may reminisce about how campus looked in 1961 and how it has changed over the years.

Alumni College Seminars
Wind Power Development at ONU, Dr. David Sawyers Jr., P.E., associate professor of mechanical engineering
In spring 2010, three 400 kW wind turbines were installed on the campus of Ohio Northern University. These turbines are expected to meet 5-10 percent of the total campus electricity demands as well as provide an educational resource for the University. Sawyers will provide an overview on the fundamentals of wind power, introduce relevant issues in wind farm development, and discuss the installation of wind turbines on the ONU campus.
Divided Government

Dr. Alexander will provide an assessment of the newly divided government. How much can they get done? Will they get done? Did Washington receive the message of the voters in November 2010? What does this mean for the 2012 presidential race?

Jewelry-Making with the First Lady
Join ONU First Lady Toby Baker, BFA ’06, in this interactive jewelry-making opportunity for attendees of Alumni Weekend. Each participant will leave with a piece of jewelry that they have personally made. Come enjoy yourselves and make a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry that you can show off to your friends when you return home.
11th Annual Robby Classic
For all golfers who will be attending Alumni Weekend, the 11th Annual Robby Classic will take place on Sunday, June 5, at Colonial Golfers Club, which is located five miles west of Ada.
