ONU's Health Center

Ohio Northern University has a free, walk-in clinic that is available for all students.  Any ONU student, may utilize their services.  The Health Center provides general health assessments, treatment as well as referrals to specialists in the area.  Check out the Health Center by clicking here!

International Admissions and Services strongly reccomend utilizing the Health Center for minor situations.  If it is an medical emergency it is best to first dial 911.

Before treatment at the Health Center, all students must complete a Medical History and Immunization Form.   It is strongly reccomended to complete the form below prior to your arrival at Ohio Northern!

ONU's Health Insurance

Ohio Northern University requires every international student to have health insurance.

The international student health insurance plan required by Ohio Northern University is offered by United Healthcare, and you can find specific details about the insurance plan by clicking here. The cost of this health insurance plan will be billed in one installment to the student’s Fall semester tuition bill.

Waiving ONU's Health Insurance

Students who have comparable health insurance from their home country can show documentation of this in English upon their arrival to ONU. If the student’s own health insurance plan meets all criteria of comparable coverage, then the student will not be required to purchase the international student health insurance plan offered by Ohio Northern University.

What is the criteria for comparable health insurance coverage?

• Medical benefits of at least $50,000 USD per person per accident or illness
• Repatriation in the amount of $7,500 USD
• Medical evacuation expenses up to $10,000 USD
• The deductible must not exceed $500 USD per illness or accident
• You must have 12 months of coverage from this insurance.

Upon arrival, students who have comparable health insurance from their home country need to bring to Ryan Radebaugh, International Services Coordinator:

• A copy of their insurance plan description in English

Note: Students who have comparable health insurance are required to show documentation to the International Services Coordinator of this coverage at the beginning of each academic year.
