Campaign Priorities

The Campaign for Ohio Northern University’s Tomorrow has four major funding priorities:

Student Aid

In order to attract and retain the most talented students — from Ohio and from other states and countries — we must make a Northern education an even more attractive option by significantly increasing the amount of financial aid we offer. Though more than 90 percent of our students receive some type of financial assistance — renewable grants, scholarships, federal loans — many still graduate with debt. To ease their burden, we are committing significant campaign funds to create endowed scholarships for high ability students.

Academic Enrichment

“Experiential Learning” gives students opportunities to learn first-hand how to apply knowledge in the real world. We are committed to creating new interdisciplinary programs and incorporating the latest technology into our educational opportunities so we can meet the ever-changing needs of our students.

Endowed faculty positions — a staple at the nation’s best institutions — will elevate our reputation and allow us to be competitive in both recruiting and retaining top faculty member. A significant portion of the Tomorrow campaign is earmarked for adding new faculty positions and increasing funding for research, professional development and other opportunities.

Capital Projects

Over the years, the ONU campus has experienced a tremendous transformation. While we have made incredible improvements, there is still much work to be done. Additional funding is required for the completion of the Mathile Center, for classroom renovations for the College of Law, the front entrance project for the College of Engineering, lighting in Dial-Roberson Stadium and a new student center.

The Northern Fund

A robust Northern Fund is essential because it provides revenue for current needs — those we are prepared for and those we cannot anticipate. Alumni participation in the Northern Fund does even more: it demonstrates to organizations that determine national rankings and to external funding sources that we are strong, ambitious and worthy of both recognition and support.
