The National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) Student Chapter of Ohio Northern University’s Raabe College of Pharmacy was named the 2010 Student Chapter of the Year at the 112th NCPA Annual Convention and Trade Exposition in Philadelphia on Oct. 25.
The award criteria included commitment to community service, recruiting new members, promoting independent community pharmacy, and advocating legislative action.

Raabe College of Pharmacy honors distinguished alumni
Ohio Northern University’s Raabe College of Pharmacy honored three alumni with Distinguished Alumni Awards on Nov. 5. This is the fourth year that Distinguished Alumni Awards have been presented by the Raabe College of Pharmacy.
Val Watts, a 1990 graduate, Theresa “Tip” Parker, a 1974 graduate, and Llyn Lloyd, a 1960 graduate, were recognized for their outstanding career accomplishments and their contributions to ONU.

Sprague joins panel discussions with Ohio governor candidates
Dr. Jon Sprague, dean of the Raabe College of Pharmacy, was invited to participate in the Lima News Editorial Board/Community Forum with Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland on Sept. 24 and challenger John Kasich on Oct. 19. The seven-member panel, selected by the Lima News, was made up of people with backgrounds in health, education, manufacturing, small business and local government.

Raabe College of Pharmacy, AmerisourceBergen create Good Neighbor Pharmacy Scholarship
The Raabe College of Pharmacy at Ohio Northern University has partnered with AmerisourceBergen Corporation to create the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Endowed Scholarship Fund available to ONU pharmacy students seeking a career in retail community pharmacy.

An article by Dr. David Bright, an Ohio Northern University assistant professor of pharmacy, and his colleagues, titled “The Mandatory Residency Dilemma: Parallels to Historical Transitions in Pharmacy Education” will appear in the November 2010 print and online issues of The Annals of Pharmacotherapy.

Donaldson named Robinson Young Alumni of the Year
Ohio Northern University has named Adrienne Wood Donaldson, a 1999 graduate of ONU’s Raabe College of Pharmacy, as the 2010 recipient of the William L. Robinson Young Alumni of the Year Award.

Pharmacy Students Help with 'Prescription Drug Take Back' Program
Two ONU pharmacy students and an ONU pharmacy graduate headed a recent prescription drug take back program at Barnesville Hospital, Barnesville, Ohio, south of Canton.
Working in cooperation with the Barnesville Police Department, Kirsten Yoho, a fifth-year ONU pharmacy student from Bethesda, Ohio, Todd (TJ) Tucker, a third-year ONU pharmacy student from Barnesville, Ohio, and Ashley Shumaker, a student at Ohio State University, volunteered to assist with the program in August.
