ONU’s Pierstorf Family Pharmacy Museum has instituted its first off-campus exhibit. Through June, a selection of pharmacy antiques, including cobalt bottles, Torsion scales and varied mortar and pestles will be on display in the Bluffton Public Library.

Pharmacy student appointed vice chair of ASHP Executive Committee
Ashley Overy, an Ohio Northern University fifth-year pharmacy student from Grafton, Ohio, has been appointed vice chair of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists’ (ASHP) Student Forum Executive Committee for the 2011-12 academic year beginning in June. Last year, Overy was the national student representative serving on the ASHP Council on Pharmacy Management.

Pharmacy professor awarded Ohio PACE Grant
Andrew Roecker, PharmD, RPh, BCPS, associate professor of pharmacy practice at Ohio Northern University’s Raabe College of Pharmacy, has received a $73,950 grant from the Ohio Partnership for Adherence through Collaborative Education (Ohio PACE), a group associated with the Cleveland Clinic, for his proposal, “Improving Patient Adherence – Tools for Success.”

The Raabe College of Pharmacy at Ohio Northern University has named Dr. Jenelle L. Sobotka to the endowed chair of pharmacy practice. This newly created position was established in part by alumni of the college to enhance the academic offerings available to ONU pharmacy students.

Pharmacy professor to receive Kappa Epsilon Career Achievement Award
Kim Broedel-Zaugg, Ohio Northern University professor of pharmacy practice, is the recipient of the Kappa Epsilon’s 2011 Career Achievement Award, which will be presented at the Kappa Epsilon reception in Seattle on Saturday, March 26.
This award honors one distinguished pharmacist annually for his/her contributions to the profession of pharmacy. As an adjunct to the award, Broedel-Zaugg’s name will be placed in nomination for the Professional Fraternity Association’s Career Achievement Award.

Pharmacy students commissioned, receive scholarships from U.S. Air Force
Six Ohio Northern University pharmacy students were commissioned as second lieutenants in the United States Air Force at a luncheon held Thursday, Jan. 27. Master Sgt. Jonathan Reed of the U.S. Air Force presided over the commissioning ceremony along with Lt. Col. Wade Mueller and Master Sgt.

NCPA 2010 Student Chapter of the Year
The National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) Student Chapter of Ohio Northern University’s Raabe College of Pharmacy was named the 2010 Student Chapter of the Year at the 112th NCPA Annual Convention and Trade Exposition in Philadelphia on Oct. 25.
The award criteria included commitment to community service, recruiting new members, promoting independent community pharmacy, and advocating legislative action.
