Pharmacy honors distinguished alumni

Ohio Northern University’s Raabe College of Pharmacy honored three alumni with Distinguished Alumni Awards on Nov. 2. This is the fifth year that Distinguished Alumni Awards have been presented by the Raabe College of Pharmacy.

NCPA chapter garners honor for second consecutive year

The National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) Student Chapter of Ohio Northern University’s Raabe College of Pharmacy was named the 2011 Student Chapter of the Year at the 113th NCPA Annual Convention and Trade Exposition in Nashville, Tenn., on Oct. 10. There are currently 95 NCPA Student Chapters across the nation.

This marks the second consecutive year ONU has garnered this prestigious honor. The award criteria included commitment to community service, recruiting new members, promoting independent community pharmacy and advocating legislative action.

Ohio Northern University to host panel discussion on heroin

Ohio Northern University will host a panel discussion on heroin, focusing on demystification and drug counseling, on Monday, Sept. 12, at 7 p.m. in room 151 of the Robertson-Evans Pharmacy Building.

The ONU Department of History, Politics and Justice is sponsoring the event, which is free and open to the public.

Kappa Epsilon chapter honored at national convention

The Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy Kappa Epsilon chapter received the National Projects Excellence award for the 2009-11 biennium and garnered honorable mention honors as Outstanding Chapter of the Year Award for the 2010-11 school year at its annual convention in Phoenix.

Pharmacy students named to ASHP advisory group

Two Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy students were appointed to prominent national positions within the student committees of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP).

Ryan Fischer, a sixth-year pharmacy student from Spencerville, Ohio, was named chair of the Pharmacy Student Forum Policy and Legislative Advisory Group for the 2011-12 academic year.

Pharmacy presentation earns merit award

Ohio Northern University’s presentation of “Preliminary Results from a University-Based Disease State Management Program Focused on Hypertension, Hyperlipidemia, and Diabetes” was honored with a 2011 APhA-APPM (Academy of Pharmacy Practice and Management) Presentation Merit Award.

The presentation merit awards were created by the APhA-APPM to recognize exceptional poster presentations at the APhA Annual Meeting and Exposition, which was held in Seattle, Wash., this year.

ONU receives pharmacy scholarship funding from Cardinal Health

The Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy is one of 13 pharmacy schools from across the nation that have been selected to receive funding from the new, $1.1 million Cardinal Health Pharmacy Scholarship Program.

Universities that were selected to participate in the Cardinal Health Pharmacy Scholarship Program offer strong nuclear, independent or hospital pharmacy curricula. Each school received an endowed scholarship ranging from $50,000 to $125,000.

Students to participate in Hanyang University Summer Program

Eleven undergraduate students from Ohio Northern University have been selected to participate in the Hanyang University Summer Program for 2011.These students, who leave June 23, will spend four weeks in summer studies at Hanyang University in South Korea.

Students from each of the University’s four undergraduate colleges have received fellowships for 2011. In addition, two exchange students also have been chosen for the program.

Pharmacy alumna and student receive OSHP awards

An Ohio Northern University pharmacy alumna and an ONU pharmacy student received awards during the 133rd annual Ohio Pharmacist Association (OPA) Conference held April 8-10 in Columbus, Ohio.

Bethany Murphy, a pharmacy practice resident from Fayetteville, Tenn., received the Ohio Society of Health-System Pharmacists (OSHP) Resident of the Year Award. Ashley Overy, a fifth-year pharmacy student from Grafton, Ohio, was awarded the Scholarship for Non-Graduating PharmD Students.
