The Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy student chapter of the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) Business Plan Team was selected as one of the top 10 teams in the nation for its business plan, “Hygeia Specialty Pharmacy,” in the 11th annual Good Neighbor Pharmacy NCPA Pruitt-Schutte Student Business Plan Competition.

Ohio Northern University student Nicholas Newman, a sixth-year pharmacy major from London, Ohio, has been awarded the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Scholarship.
In 2010, ONU partnered with AmerisourceBergen Corporation to create the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Endowed Scholarship Fund, which is available to ONU pharmacy students seeking careers in retail community pharmacy.

Ohio Northern University will celebrate its 2014 Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony and the Raabe College of Pharmacy Commencement in the Sports Center on Sunday, May 11. The pharmacy ceremony will commence at 9 a.m. followed by the undergraduate ceremony at 2 p.m.

Ohio Northern University President Daniel A. DiBiasio announced that Steven J. Martin, professor and chairman of the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the University of Toledo, has been named dean of ONU’s Raabe College of Pharmacy. Martin replaces Tom Kier, who has served as interim dean for the past year.

U.S. Army Capt. Lisa Tonrey, a newly retired commissioned officer of the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS), will be the guest speaker during the Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy’s fifth annual Sebok Pharmacy Lecture. Tonrey will deliver her lecture, “Pharmacists as Providers – Challenging the Status Quo,” in ONU’s Freed Center for the Performing Arts on Wednesday, Jan. 29, at 1 p.m.

Five members of ONU’s Gamma Delta chapter of Kappa Psi pharmaceutical fraternity took part in the 56th Grand Council Convention, held July 30-Aug. 4, 2013, in St. Petersburg, Fla.
During the event Madalyn McMinn, a fifth-year pharmacy student from Wellngton, Ohio, was awarded a Kappa Psi Foundation scholarship and the ONU chapter was honored as honor of seventh best collegiate chapter in the fraternity and best collegiate chapter in the Great Lakes Province.

David Kinder, professor of medicinal chemistry at ONU, is currently on sabbatical, researching medicinal plants of the Southwest. He is sharing some of his research in presentations at the Anasazi Heritage Center and the Crow Canyon Archaeological Center both in Colorado.
His topic, “Did the Ancient Ones Grow Potatoes,” is part of his research into early agriculture in the Four Corners area, includes his search for wild potatoes, a crop not normally associated with the early peoples of the area.
