ALD Graduate Fellowship

ALD Deadline: Jan. 31

Benefits

  • 24 fellowships: one valued at $7,500, one at $6,000, eight at $5,000 each, and 14 at $3,000 each

Eligibility Requirements

  • A member of ALD
  • Enrolled or will be enrolled in an accredited U.S. graduate or professional studies program during the coming academic year
  • GPA 3.5+

Application Components

  • Application form
  • Lists of employment, activities and honors
  • 250-word essay on the value of Alpha Lambda Delta to your education
  • Statement of personal circumstances (if any) that may affect your attendance at graduate school
  • 500-word essay on your professional objectives
  • 2-3 letters of recommendation, faculty and a second reference required, third reference optional
  • Complete official transcripts from each college or university, undergraduate and graduate, you have attended
  • Graduate or professional school test scores, if required

Application Process

  • Chapter nomination is not required.
  • There is no limit on the number of ONU applicants each year.
  • Provide each of your letter writers with a printed copy of the recommender’s form (the final page of the application) and a business envelope. Ask them to place the completed form and their letter of recommendation in the envelope, seal it, and return it to you in time for you to mail the application by the postmark deadline of Jan. 31. It is strongly recommended that you contact the letter writers at least a month before you’d like to receive the letters and ask to receive the references at least a week before the deadline.
  • Arrange to have a complete official transcript of all academic work, both undergraduate and graduate, sent to National Alpha Lambda Delta Headquarters, address below.
  • Complete the application form, including lists and essays, electronically; then print your completed application.
  • Enclose or arrange to have forwarded a copy of your scores on any required graduate or professional entrance exams to National Alpha Lambda Delta Headquarters, address below.
  • Mail the complete application (application form, lists, essays, recommendation letters and any required test scores) to National Alpha Lambda Delta Headquarters, address below.
  • Fellowship recipients will be announced by April 30.

ALD James Stemler Study Abroad Scholarship

ONU Deadline: Feb. 7
ALD Deadline: Feb. 15

Benefits

  • 20 scholarships: ten valued at $2,000 each, ten at $1,000 each

Eligibility Requirements

  • Initiated into ALD prior to Jan. 1
  • Intending to study abroad during the 2016-17 academic year (summer 2016-spring 2017)
  • Intending to study abroad through a U.S.-based institution
  • GPA 3.5+

Application Components

  • Application form
  • 250-word essay on the value of Alpha Lambda Delta to your education
  • 250-word essay on your personal goals for study abroad, how it will impact academic and personal growth
  • 2 letters of recommendation, faculty and a second reference
  • Complete official transcripts from each college or university you have attended

Application Process

  • Submit completed application materials to Krista Horvath (k-horvath.1@onu.edu) by Sunday, Feb. 7, to be considered for ONU nomination. Use the subject heading "ALD Stemler Application" for electronic submissions.
  • The ALD/PES scholarship committee members will review the applications and select not more than one nominee to submit for national consideration.
  • The committee members will then complete the Transmittal Checklist form, include a letter of recommendation from the local chapter, and mail the nominee’s complete application by the Feb. 15 postmark deadline.

PES Distinguished Member Undergraduate Scholarship

ONU Deadline: Feb. 7
PES Deadline: March 1

Benefits

  • 36 or more scholarships valued at $6,000 each, one or more valued at $1,000 each

Eligibility Requirements

  • Member of Phi Eta Sigma
  • GPA 3.5+

  • Application form
  • Optional: up to three letters of recommendation
  • Most recent official or adviser-certified unofficial transcript

Application Process

  • Submit completed application materials to to Krista Horvath (k-horvath.1@onu.edu) by Sunday, Feb. 7, to be considered for ONU nomination. Use the subject heading "PES Undergraduate Application" for electronic submissions.
  • The ALD/PES scholarship committee members will review the applications and select not more than two nominees to submit for national consideration.
  • The PES adviser will then sign the Adviser Certification on the application form and upload the nominee’s complete application by the March 1 deadline.

PES Distinguished Member Graduate Scholarship

ONU Deadline: Feb. 7 (if seeking chapter nomination)
PES Deadline: March 1

Benefits

  • Six scholarships valued at $7,500 each

Eligibility Requirements

  • Member of Phi Eta Sigma
  • Planning to enter first year of full-time graduate study
  • GPA 3.5+

  • Optional: up to three letters of recommendation
  • Most recent official or adviser-certified unofficial transcript

  • If not seeking chapter nomination, ONU applicants should submit their applications directly to National Phi Eta Sigma. Contact the national office or at 270-745-6540 for instructions on submitting the application directly.

ALD Jo Anne Trow Undergraduate Scholarship

ONU Deadline: March 13
ALD Deadline: April 1

Benefits

  • 36 scholarships: five valued at $6,000 each, five at $3,000 each, five at $2,000 each, and 21 at $1,000 each

Eligibility Requirements

  • Initiated into ALD between Jan. 1, and Dec. 31
  • GPA 3.5+

  • Complete official transcripts from each college or university you have attended

  • The ALD/PES scholarship committee members will review the applications and select not more than one nominee to submit for national consideration.
  • The committee members will then complete the Transmittal Checklist form, include a letter of recommendation from the local chapter, and mail the nominee’s complete application by the April 1, postmark deadline.
     

PES Thomas Arkle Clark Scholarship

Benefits

  • One $10,000 award

Selection Process

  • No separate application required
  • Selected by National PES Scholarship Committee from pool of all other PES scholarship applicants, undergraduate and graduate
  • Candidate chosen who best exemplifies the ideals of PES
