Textbook Drive

In addition, we have officially kicked off our spring textbook drive.  Two donation boxes have been placed in McIntosh; please encourage your friends and classmates to participate in this charitable cause.  The Worldwide Book Drive accepts textbooks, paperback books and novels.  The items that are received will help budding colleges in third world countries.  ALD/PES will be painting the spirit rock on February 9th at 4pm to promote our textbook drive to the campus community. All members are invited to join in the fun!

October 9, 2014

Thank you to all who made it to our first meeting!  We had a great turn out and laid the groundwork for the upcoming year.  Representatives from several organizations across campus spoke about the events they will be hosting later this year.  We would like to see active involvement of ALD/PES members with these organizations, so please get in touch with these individuals if your schedule permits!

Chili Cook-off

The cook-off is a fundraising event in preparation for a 30 Hour Famine that will take place later on campus.  30 Hour Famine is an event hosted nationally by World Vision to raise money for starving children.  World Vision helps families build economies to harvest food.  The Chili Cook-off will take place Thursday, October 23, from 5-7 p.m. in the chapel on campus.  Volunteers are needed to help set-up, hold signs and take tickets during the dinner, and to clean up. The shifts are as follows:

Set-up: 3:30-5pm
Dinner: 5-7pm
Clean-up: 7-8:30pm

Please e-mail Kara Horvath at k-horvath@onu.edu with questions or if you are interested in helping at the event!  Please indicate the time/shift you want to work.

If you would prefer just to come eat on October 23, it is $3 for two bowls with sides and $5 for unlimited chili and sides.  Those who attend also get to vote on the best chili!

Honors Program Christmas Caroling

The Honors Program will be hosting a Christmas caroling event on Saturday, December 6.  This organization would love for members of ALD/PES to join them!  The group will meet at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, in the honors house.  If you would like to participate in the caroling, please email Katie Bova at k-bova@onu.edu.

Mortar Board Stuffed Animal Drive

Ohio Northern University Mortar Board is organizing a stuffed animal drive and will deliver these toys to children hospitalized in the local area.  The cost of the bears will be approximately $3.  If you would like to assist with this endeavor (either through monetary aid or volunteer support), please contact Joe Railey at j-railey@onu.edu.

ALD/PES Textbook Drive

In addition, our group is organizing a textbook drive.  We are asking ALP/PES members to donate unneeded textbooks and will hold a textbook drive later in the semester.  Books will be sold at a relatively low price to all students and the proceeds will benefit Hardin County.  We will donate all unused books to a charity that is in line with our purposes.  If you have books to donate, please email ALD/PES president Joe Marchiano at j-marchiano@onu.edu with a list of your books!
