Presser Chronology

October 1926 - $100,000 construction grant secured from the Presser Foundation
 
February 1928 - Clearing of building site begins. This involved the demolition of Estill Boarding House and the Lottie White residence. Later the Sen. Frank Willis' house removed.
 
August 1928 - Construction begins
 
Spring 1929 - Construction completed
 
May 26, 1929 - Building Dedicated
 
WWII - Closed
 
Post War Years - South lawn site of "Vetsburg" trailer park for returning servicemen and families
 
1947 - Building re-opened
 
1953 - Presser remodeled to serve as the Heterick Memorial Library
 
October 1954 - Schoonover Language Lab installed
 
1968 - Library moved from Presser to present building
 
1972 - Presser remodeled for music purposes - Language lab removed to Dukes
 
1985 - Major renovation
 
1997-98 - Offices and classrooms built over rehearsal hall in a two-story addition
 
1998 - Current view of Presser Hall
