In her 25th year at Ohio Northern University, Dr. Denise D'Arca is Professor of Music and Coordinator of Music Education, and supervises the student teachers in music. Her specialty is teaching music to special learners, and she was one of the invited speakers for Music Education Week (the National Association for Music Education national conference) in June 2012. She holds a Bachelor of Music in instrumental music education (French horn, with additional studies in English and speech/drama) from Culver-Stockton College, as well as a Master of Arts in vocal music education from Truman State University. Her Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction (music teacher education, vocal music and additional studies in special education) comes from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Dr. D'Arca has taught vocal, instrumental and general music for grades K-12, in addition to early childhood music and music for special learners of all ages. She has been active in all aspects of community theatre. She is a member of the OMEA, MENC, ESGM, OSMTE and Sigma Alpha Iota. She also serves as a vocal/choral adjudicator for OMEA.
"Dr. D." and her husband of 35 years live in Ada. They have two sons and one grandcat.
