Ryan Corey is a graphic designer, typographer and type designer. His philosophical approach to his work seeks to provoke the viewer in an attempt to shatter complacency and encourage positive thinking. Extending graphic language to other areas of thinking and form making, Corey constantly tries to defy convention, to create different perspectives and to go beyond preconceived notions.
Ryan Corey is currently working as a graphic designer for SMOG Design, a Los Angeles firm specializing in all facets of visual communication for the entertainment industry including identity, interactive, print and packaging. He has produced projects for the record industry, artists and architects, The California Institute of the Arts, and created a visual biography for Hunter S. Thompson.
Corey also has worked as a designer for the California Institute of the Arts and Modern Postcard. His work is included in the UC Davis Design Museum’s permanent collection and has been recognized by Adobe, The Art Director’s Club, and the record industry. His work has appeared in the international journals STEP, I.D. and Communication Arts. Corey received his BFA in graphic design from the California Institute of the Arts where he has returned to teach. Ryan travels locally, nationally and abroad and has lived with Eskimo Tribes.
