Work Study Program
The department of art and design hires students to assist in running and maintaining various studio facilities. While providing money and financial aid, these jobs also can be a valuable part of an educational experience. Students must determine their eligibility in the financial aid office located in Weber Hall.
These work assignments are important to the operation of the department, and we expect that students hired for these duties treat them with the same regard. Be on time for your job and be prepared to complete the work assigned to you. If you must be absent from your job for a good reason, call your supervisor in advance, so that a substitute can be found.
A listing of departmental jobs is on file in the art and design office. Available times for work as gallery attendants and office clerks should be given to the department secretary as soon as possible. The secretary assigns times for the gallery and office attendants and notifies those individuals of their assignments. Computer lab monitors are hired through the design program. Students must have knowledge of the Macintosh environment to be hired. Other department jobs include studio assistants, gallery director assistants, publication designers, slide librarians and others.
Student time sheets are to be completed online from the Human Resources Web site. At the end of every month, time sheets need to be completed and then electronically submitted to the appropriate faculty/staff member for verification and signatures. You may then pick up your paychecks at the Controller’s Office on the 15th of the following month.
Supplemental Time Sheets
All students who work in the department of art and design must complete supplemental time sheets. These sheets are located in the department office (in the orange folder).
When beginning and completing a shift, students must record their start and end times on this sheet. A faculty or staff member must also initial each shift for verification. Students will not be compensated for unverified hours.
Work-study contracts must be completed and on file in the department office each year a student wishes to work in the department.
