Academy of Student Pharmacists “Generation RX”
Raabe College of Pharmacy at Ohio Northern University

Invites you to a 2 hour CE program on Monday March 26th, 2012 at the Raabe College of Pharmacy at Ohio Northern University sponsored by ASP's Generation Rx subcommittee.  This program is free of charge and food will be provided.  Please RSVP by March 20th. 

The goal of the Generation Rx Initiative is to enhance the public's understanding of medication safety issues in general, and those relating to prescription drug abuse in particular.

Neurobiology of Drug-Seeking Behavior
Objectives:

1.  Explain the neurobiology contributing to drug seeking behavior.

2.  Apply the neuropharmacologic principles of drugs to the neurobiology model of drug seeking behavior.

3.  Apply the “Spiraling Distress” cycle to drug seeking behavior.

4.  Explain the functions and roles of the different brain regions in producing drug seeking behavior.

How Did I Get Here? A Journey of Addiction, Pharmacy's Dark Secret
Objectives:

1.  Discuss the populations and extent of the disease of chemical dependency.

2.  Describe the risk factors and telltale signs seen in the impaired pharmacist.

3.  List barriers to recovery in the impaired pharmacist.

4.  Explain the various treatment strategies employed in treating the impaired pharmacist.

Ohio Northern University is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.  These knowledge-based programs are acceptable for 0.1 CEU’s each.  UAN 0048-0000-12-007-L04-P and 0048-0000-12-008-L04-P.  Please allow 4-6 weeks for Statements of Credit to be issued.  There is no fee for this program.
