2014 Biology Refresher Course
This year is the first year we have developed a much desired BIOLOGY REFRESHER Camp for incoming freshmen majoring in: Biology, Environmental and Field Biology, Forensic Biology, Medical Laboratory Science and Molecular Biology. This course will have limited enrollment with registration on a first-come first serve basis, so do not hesitate to enroll and register for Session 1 or Session 2. Due to the lack of enrollment we have canceled Session 2 of the Biology Refresher Course
The Biology Refresher will lead the way into the First session of the Chemistry Refresher Course (7/20 - 7/24, 2014).
The first session of the Biology Refresher is from July 15 - July 19th and the registration deadline is July 11th. We have tried to work around the Chemistry Refresher to limit your traveling inconeniences and allow you back-to-back experiences before you begin your college life on the ONU Campus.
WHY TAKE THE BIOLOGY Refresher?
If you want to improve your biology base knowledge, review your biology basics, hone your basic bio math and statistics aptitude, forge ahead in acquiring much needed lab skills for Biology 1311 or 1201, review the cell structure, or gain some knowledge for the first time concerning protein structure, enzymes and enzymatic reactions, enjoy an opportunity to obtain your own data and review basic techniques of graphing followed by descriptive statistics.
The biology professors understand that the conversion from high school to college level sciences is daunting task and if fact some students never achieve an "A" grade despite the grades achieved with moderate effort in high school.
We sent a letter to all new students who will be entering programs which include the study of biology, biochemistry, and pharmacy during the first semester, and who will likely be taking CHEM 1711 or 1811. We, in the Department of Biology, are well aware of the tremendous adjustments, which is part of college life.
One of the more difficult adjustments is the fulfilling the expectations of your professors in terms of what we assume you already know in our areas of expertise. Therefore, reviewing much of that material before the first semester begins will put you in a good position to start the year even if you do not register for the Biology Refresher course.
Send the Enrollment form along with your check or credit card number to: Ohio Northern University, Department of Biological & Allied Health Sciences, 525 S Main St., Ada OH 45810. Make your check payable to Ohio Northern University. If you have any questions about the Biology Refresher Course call 419-772-2325 and ask for Jane Brown.
