40+ A Retrospective: Rob Price
Prof. Rob Price, a retired faculty member from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, received his MFA degree in art education and art history at Ohio University. An Ada High School graduate, Rob briefly attended ONU in the early 1960s before receiving his bachelor’s degree at Miami University. He eventually taught painting, drawing and printmaking at UW-Stout during a 30-year career. In addition, he has taught for several years in England through the Fulbright Program. Influenced by abstract artists like Richard Diebenkorn and Francis Bacon, Rob uses the mix of figures and abstractions, as well as mixed media, in his work.
Elzay Gallery of Art
The Elzay Gallery of Art is located on Gilbert Street on the campus of Ohio Northern University. It is named for Colonel William O. Elzay. Colonel Elzay attended Ada High School and graduated from Ohio Northern in 1925 with a bachelor of arts. He earned an MBA from Harvard in 1929. After a career in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War, he enjoyed a successful career as a trust officer with Chase Manhattan Bank and as an independent financial advisor. In 1965, ONU awarded him an honorary Doctor of Business Administration. He also served on the Board of Trustees from 1955 until 1985. Col. Elzay died May 26, 1995 at his home in Boca Raton, Florida.
Gallery Director: Melissa Eddings-Mancuso is an associate professor in art at ONU. She received her MFA in painting from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and her BFA from Ohio University in 1992. She has taught at ONU since 1997, served as chair from 2000–2002, and currently teaches painting, printmaking and foundation courses in the department of art & design.
AIGA | The Professional Association for Design
Graphic design is by the ONU Student Chapter of AIGA. AIGA’s purpose is to further excellence in design as a strategic tool for business and a cultural force. AIGA is committed to stimulating thinking about design through the exchange of ideas and information, and encouragement of education and ethical practice.
Designer: Bethany Schreck is a senior advertising design & organizational communications major from Bethel Park, PA.
She currently serves as president of the ONU’s Student Chapter of AIGA, is a core group leader of President’s Club, and is an active sister of Delta Zeta Sorority. She recently completed an art direction internship with Mullen Pittsburgh.
