Genocide and Its Aftermath: The Story of a Real Survivor of the " Hotel Rwanda"
Edouard Kayihura is a survivor of the genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda, during which, he spent 100 days as a refugee in the Hotel des Mille Collines a.k.a. ”Hotel Rwanda." As part of Unite for Awareness Week, Kayihura is coming to ONU to speak to our campus and community about his experience as a refugee.
Before Kayihura moved to the United States, he was the prosecutor in charge of the department of the prosecutions of the genocide crime and crimes against humanity before the Tribunal of the First Instance of Kigali. He was also executive secretary and legal representative of Kanyarwanda Human Rights. He is a member of the International Association of Genocide Scholars and a graduate from the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and Tiffin University in Criminal Justice.
