Prof. Elsass Contributes to Textbook Ancillaries

Prof. Art Elsass, was selected to provide PowerPoint presentations for the new edition of the textbook, Management Information Systems by James O’Brien and George Marakas, published by McGraw Hill and released in October.  Elsass commented “I had contacted the publisher’s agent about improvements and corrections for the previous edition, so I was pleased when they approached me about doing the presentations for the new edition.  It took a significant amount of time during the summer to complete the project, but was very a satisfying experience.” Prof. Elsass is the instructor for the Management Information Systems and Personal Computer Applications courses in the James F. Academic Achievement Honored

Kimberly Chase, a junior in accounting from Dover, Ohio, is a recipient of the 2010 Slaymaker-Kinsey Award for academic achievement by a member of the ONU chapter of Alpha Xi Delta.Since 1993, an endowment, established to honor Wilhelmina “Billie” Slaymaker-Kinsey, has provided a monetary recognition to the member in each Alpha Xi Delta chapter who returns to school with the highest GPA.Alpha Xi Delta is one of the oldest women’s fraternities in the United States and is dedicated to the personal growth of women. continue reading

Home Instead Senior Care Founder to Speak

Ohio Northern University’s James F. Dicke College of Business Administration presents Paul R. Hogan, chairman and founder of Home Instead Senior Care, as part of the Dean’s Distinguished Lecture Series in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts on Thursday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m.   Hogan will deliver a lecture titled “From Concept to Global Leader: The Adventures of an Entrepreneur.” The event is free and open to the public.   Hogan, a 1985 graduate of the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, founded Home Instead with his wife, Lori, in 1994. Learning With a Foreign Accent

Study abroad is open to ONU students in all majors. For some it is required for graduation.On Friday, Oct. 15, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the McIntosh Activities Room, the second annual study abroad fair will give students the opportunity to learn more.Mitchell Lawson, the graduate assistant for study abroad, says students can earn credit by studying abroad, “but cultural understanding is one of the greatest aspects.” He encourages freshmen and sophomores to think about study abroad options early in their college career, so they can make it part of their schedule.Robert Kidd, a senior in international business and economics from North Ridgeville, Ohio, did just that and spent the summer studying in Italy.While study abroad is a requirement... continue reading

The presentation will take place in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts on Thursday, Oct. 7, at 7 p.m.   The presentation will feature a panel of young alumni as well as a business recruiter who will discuss successes and failures in the job-search process.
