Students honored with Dankook Awards

Ohio Northern University presented Dankook Awards to Chelsea Mack, a fall 2011 graduate from Euclid, Ohio, and Nicholas Baker, a spring 2012 graduate from Loveland, Ohio, in a ceremony prior to the undergraduate commencement on Sunday, May 13.Presented since 1974, the Dankook Award is an annual reciprocal award exchanged between Dankook University in South Korea and Ohio Northern University. The award recognizes students with outstanding records in academics, student leadership, co-curricular activities and service.The selection process begins when each of ONU’s undergraduate deans nominates two students to receive the award. ONU's American Marketing Association places first in national competition

Ohio Northern University’s American Marketing Association (AMA) took top honors in a Strategic Allocation of Business Resources (SABRE) market simulation competition at the AMA International Collegiate Conference New Orleans on Thursday, March 22. ONU was one of 35 universities that participated in the eight-hour competition, including Ferris State University and Johns Hopkins University, which placed second and third, respectively.“Our team competed against marketing students from some of the largest and most prestigious business schools in the country,” said Randall Ewing, associate professor of marketing. “This speaks volumes for our students and the quality of our program here at The James F. ONU presents Carroll V. Lovett Distinguished Lecture

Ohio Northern University’s James F. Dicke College of Business Administration will present “Moral Courage,” a lecture by Signe S. Gates, as part of the Carroll V. Lovett Distinguished Lecture Series in the Dicke Forum on Wednesday, March 21, at 7 p.m.Gates is a member of the Board of Trustees at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pa., and vice chair of the university’s Executive Committee. The Entrepreneur Center in Ohio Northern University’s James F. Dicke College of Business Administration continues its entrepreneurship workshops with Matt Brown, who will speak on “Social Media? Dicke College of Business Administration continues its entrepreneurship workshops with Chad Hays, partner/managing agent at Hays Insurance Agencies, who will speak on “Business Insurance: What Kind and How Much” on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 5:30 p.m. in the Dicke Forum.Hays, who graduated from ONU in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science in business administration, grew up in Celina, Ohio. Grant to fund Entrepreneurial Mindset Program

Ohio Northern University has received a Kern Entrepreneurship Education Network (KEEN) grant from the Kern Family Foundation to support “Saturating the Ohio Northern University Undergraduate Engineering Student Experience with the Entrepreneurial Mindset,” under the supervision of Dr. John-David Yoder, professor and chair of mechanical engineering, and Dr. Robert Kleine, associate professor of marketing. KEEN grant received

Drs. J.D. Yoder, professor and chair of mechanical engineering, and Robert Kleine, associate professor of marketing, are the recipients of a $444,580 KEEN (Kern Entrepreneurship Education Network) grant from the Kern Family Foundation.This grant supports continued work to integrate the educational experience for ONU students with the entrepreneurial mindset. The project includes: continued development of entrepreneurial mindset education efforts at ONU, improving outcomes-based assessment tools for KEEN and strengthening ties to other schools in KEEN.The Kern Family Foundation has contributed a total of $624,565 to ONU since 2006. continue reading

Business Administration honors five with Pinnacle Award

The Ohio Northern University James F. Dicke College of Business Administration has honored five individuals who have made the highest commitment to the business college with the inaugural Pinnacle Award at a banquet held Feb. 3.James F. Dicke Sr., chairman emeritus of Crown Equipment Corporation, and his son, James F. Dicke II, current chairman and CEO of Crown Equipment, along with Robert C. ONU students help with tax preparation

Elderly and low-income tax payers in Hardin and surrounding counties can receive free income tax assistance from Ohio Northern University business administration and law students through Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA).The VITA program offers free tax help to low- to moderate-income (generally $50,000 and below) individuals across the country who cannot prepare tax returns on their own. Kaitlyn Early receives Financial Executives International Student Award
