ONU Receives Entrepreneurship Award

Ohio Northern University received the 2009 Kern Entrepreneurship Education Network (KEEN) Most Improved Institution Award at the KEEN conference held in Orlando, Fla., from Jan. 6-8.  ONU’s program is led by Dr. John-David Yoder (Associate Professor and Chair of Mechanical Engineering), Dr. James Fenton (Professor of Management and Dean of the James F. DCBA's Rob Kidd and Dr. Steve Christopher help Mock Trial team place third at ONU Invitational.

Two Mock Trial teams from ONU were among 30 schools from 12 states competing  at the ONU Mock Trial Invitational Tournament on Saturday.  One ONU team earned a third place award which is the highest ranking any ONU team has ever accomplished.  Three of the visiting teams are nationally ranked.  ONU team members were: Rob Kidd (International Business and Economics), Alexandra Habbouche (Political Science), Lara Wood (International Studies), Laura Presbrey Peet (Political Science), Matt Wiseman (History), and team captains Steve Keslar (Journalism), and Dan Jones (Political Science).  The attorney coach is Steve Christopher, who also teaches the Expert Testimony course in the James F. Arthur L. Elsass, computer applications professional, is the author of a book, "Microsoft Office 2007: A Guide to Using Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access". Ohio Northern University receives KEEN Most Improved Institution Award

Ohio Northern University received the 2009 Kern Entrepreneurship Education Network (KEEN) Most Improved Institution Award at the KEEN conference held in Orlando, Fla., from Jan. 6-8. The award was given to ONU “in recognition of the institution as demonstrating the greatest change to align with KEEN goals.” One long-term goal for KEEN is to encourage newly graduated engineers to enter the workforce with the intent to foster economic and technical commerce within their communities. Macy's Vice President to Lecture on Retailing

Ohio Northern University’s James F. Dicke College of Business Administration presents Amy Hanson, executive vice president of property development and credit and customer service at Macy’s Inc., as part of the Dean’s Distinguished Lecture Series on Thursday, Jan. 14, at 7 p.m. in the forum of Dicke Hall. Hanson will deliver a lecture titled “Survival of the Fittest: Six Elements to Success in Retailing.” The event is free and open to the public. SIFE Joins Cell Phones for Soldiers

Ohio Northern University’s Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) and Cell Phones for Soldiers are collecting old and unused cell phones for American soldiers. The drive, which begins Jan. 4, is expected to bring in more than 50,000 phones, which will finance the purchase of pre-paid calling cards for soldiers stationed overseas. Local residents and Ohio Northern students can drop off phones at the Findlay-Hancock County Public Library through Feb. 28, 2010, or at the Hardin County and Ada Public libraries through April 30, 2010. “We’re proud to show our support for U.S. soldiers and to contribute to a worthy cause like Cell Phones for Soldiers,” said Lauren SeGall, a senior marketing major from Greenville, Pa., and spokesperson for SIFE. The Ohio Northern University James F. Dicke College of Business Administration presented Cheryl (Burcham) Cotner with the Outstanding Service Award on Saturday, Oct. 10. The award, given annually at Homecoming, honors individuals who have provided sustained and outstanding service to and whose contributions have positively impacted the College of Business Administration and Ohio Northern.
