ONU students to help with tax preparation

Elderly and low-income tax payers in Hardin and surrounding counties can find free income tax assistance from Ohio Northern University business and law students through Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA).The VITA Program offers free tax help to low-to-moderate-income (generally $51,000 and below) individuals across the country who cannot prepare tax returns on their own. As part of this program, ONU students have received training and have become IRS-certified to help prepare basic and intermediate tax returns and identify special credits, such as the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), Child Tax Credit and Credit for the Elderly.ONU students will offer free electronic filing (e-filing) services in Ohio Northern’s James F. Mu Delta chapter of Beta Alpha Psi recognized as superior chapter

AACSB continues ONU business school accreditation

The Dicke College of Business Administration at Ohio Northern University has maintained its business accreditation by AACSB International—The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Beta Alpha Psi chapter honored

The Mu Delta chapter of Beta Alpha Psi at Ohio Northern University’s James F. Dicke College of Business Administration has been named a semifinalist for the Beta Alpha Psi Ethics Award sponsored by Grant Thornton LLC.The 2012-13 award is made up of two parts: an abstract of a planned ethics project and a final submission of the results.ONU’s abstract outlined a plan to conduct an Ethics Day on campus to provide an avenue for high school students to think about ethical issues. Student-athlete wins Elite 89 award for NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Championship

Ohio Northern University defenseman Matt Fleming, a senior international business and economics major from Liberty Township, Ohio, has been named the recipient of the Elite 89 award for the 2012 NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Championship. Entrepreneur workshop series to tackle small business taxes

The Community Economic Development Center (CEDC) at Ohio Northern University continues its entrepreneurship workshop series in the Dicke Forum on Tuesday, Jan. 29. The workshop will be preceded by a networking event at 5:30 p.m. The workshop will follow the networking event and conclude at 7 p.m.The topic of the workshop will be “Taxes and Your Business” with Mary E. ONU Receives Funding to Develop New Risk Management and Insurance Major

 Ohio Northern University’s James F. Dicke College of Business Administration was awarded a grant from the Robert P. Ashlock Memorial Program, funded through Assurex Global and administered by The Griffith Insurance Education Foundation to develop a Risk Management & Insurance (RMI) major.  Making the presentation to Dr. James W. ONU students honored by Financial Executives International Toledo Chapter

Two students from Ohio Northern University’s James F. Dicke College of Business Administration were recognized for their outstanding accomplishments at the Financial Executives International (FEI) Toledo Chapter Students Awards Night in Perrysburg, Ohio, on Nov. 8.Robert Roll, a senior accounting and finance major from Gahanna, Ohio, and Austin Price, a Master of Professional Practice in Accounting candidate from Tiffin, Ohio, were among 14 students honored at the event. Global Entrepreneurship Week features competition, champion ballroom dancing duo

The Ohio Northern University James F. Dicke College of Business Administration Entrepreneur Center is holding a Global Entrepreneurship Week from Nov. 13-16. The week will include pitch competitions for ONU students and a four-day visit from the champion ballroom dancing duo of Tim and Barbara Haller.  The week begins with the ONU Polar Innovation Exchange competition will commence at 5:30 p.m. ONU students are asked to prepare a brief oral presentation of no more than two minutes. This should be a concise and well-thought-out presentation of a new business or product idea. Props are allowed and encouraged. There will be two levels of competition.
