At a glance: Computer Engineering
As a faculty member in the ECCS department at ONU, I teach a variety of classes, including electric circuits, logic design, computer architecture and the series of digital signal processing. When I am teaching, I find it so rewarding and self-fulfilling to see students nod their heads in agreement showing that they understand what I am saying. In the lab, seeing the thrilled smile on the faces of students after they successfully run an experiment is just priceless. One of the greatest things about what we do at ONU is the individual attention each student gets from their first day as freshmen until even after they graduate.

Computer Engineering is a fast growing field with many opportunities. Computer engineers are trained problem solvers who understand both the hardware and software aspects of computers. Our program provides students with challenging hand-on experiences through a broad-based, rigorous curriculum providing exposure to various programming languages and development tools in their software courses, practical labs featuring up-to-date equipment in their hardware courses, and coverage of such advanced areas as embedded systems design, networks, signal processing, and software engineering. Computer engineering majors earn a bachelor of science degree.
Distinctive features
Students are given opportunities to develop and practice oral and written communication skills. Our program fosters an environment that produces graduates who are creative problem solvers and are sought after by employers. A five-year optional co-op program is available. The college has in place an Engineer-in Residence program in which a practicing professional engineer operates an office in the Robert W. Biggs Engineering Building. Student interns work on real-world projects under this engineer's direction.

The ECCS department is housed on the second floor of the Robert W. Biggs Engineering and Science Annex Buildings. Students and faculty have access to a variety of modern computer and engineering laboratory facilities. Major features of the facilities related to computer engineering include:
